Mission Statement
“Central Virginia's Finest Community Concert Band”
The mission of the Richmond Pops Band is to perpetuate the grand tradition of the American Concert Band, first established by John Philip Sousa. To provide unique opportunities to accomplished amateur and professional musicians to provide cultural entertainment and enjoyment to a cosmopolitan audience through concert band music. To both educate and entertain our audience through concert literature, presenting programs which highlight a wide variety of musical styles.
We believe that appreciation of the arts begins with accessibility for all and to promote active involvement in cultural education to our community. We perform a concert series at the Altria Theater 3 times a year and presented to the public at no charge. We also perform for retirement homes, either as a large or small concert ensemble.
As a premier member of the Richmond Performing Arts Community, we feel that nurturing creativity with our volunteer members, the community gains a creative and engaged group of professionals
